Are the Verbatim media 8x or 16x?

Probably whatever you find at the local store. In the past, at least for BB, it all has the same SKU, so if you find a 16x pack or an 8x pack it's the same price.

(this is why stuff online, like bb.com, still says "2x media!" or the like, the SKU doesn't change, the product itself does... without a new SKU, Best Buy doesn't necessarily go back to update descriptions)

My local BB ad has a five pack of Panasonic DVD-RAM for $5.00. It's a lot cheaper ( about 60%) than what I just paid for Verbatim at Newegg.

We don't know what store ad you are refering to, are you still working at "Staples" or BestBuy?.

I just got 3 of the DVD-RAM packs from BB. Pretty decent price, really! These are all new packages (from what I have seen before), they hype up being much more scratch proof, and are Made in the USA [insert chant here]. This must be the beginning from that new factory they were opening up here.

I found one old MIJ package in the overstock area, but it had obviously fallen on its edge and the jewel cases were broken; I didn't want to risk buying it for other damage it may have suffered.

Is there a specific "Made In ???" I should be looking for? Im gonna see if I pick up one pack of DVD+R 16x Verbatim 100pcs.

I just noticed the USA stuff only has a 90 day warranty. I'm wondering if it's not quite as good as the older Made in Japan. I can't remember that warranty but I'm pretty sure it was at least a year.

To be safe, I'd dig around and look for MIJ in the older golden shrinkwrap. The USA stuff is in a whiter shrinkwrap.
