I just got back form Officedepot took 15 minutes to get in got Maxell DVD+R 8X made in Japan in pack of 25/$4.98 no rebate and Keyboard/Mouse wireless from Microsoft for $19.99. It was surprising to me because Officedepot ad says the KB/Mouse is $109.99 with $55 instant rebate and $35 mail in rebate and final cost after these rebates is $19.99 but some how when I got through cashier she said there is no MIR and the price is $19.99.lThese two buy are really worth saying BF sale.

At least you went to work with a smile on your face

As for deals, I didn't see much this year.

Bought some TY cd-r from Rima.com but that was it. They weren't even on sale either, but compared to CDN prices they were a good deal.

I didn't get a lot of stuff today. The only things I got for myself were the LOTR and Harry Potter DVD's that Target had for $5.88.

Alright Hox, I'm curious. You said your store was trying something different by not doing doorbusters. How did it work out? Employees like it? Customers like it? DETAILS MAN! ;)

Hox's store tried to attract shoppers by having strippers. I hear they had hox was out front in a pair of speedos, dancing on top of a VW Beetle.

But how much ahead were the stores with the traditional Black Friday sales?

I didn't get squat.

I wasn't going to get up early and get in some line well before 6AM just to get in the door at 6:05 and find that what I wanted was gone already.

I drove by my local shopping center, where Staples and Circuit City are in the same building, at 8:30 and saw that the parking lot was absolutely jammed with the madness and futility of it all.

I kept on going and ended up in Borrego Springs around noon for the weekend.

:P

Borrego Springs

Sounds (and looks) like a scenic place where one can get away from all this technology, sounds nice. ;)

I got m'self the Lite-On set top DVD recorder/VCR combo at Circuit City for $150 + tax after waiting in line from about 4:10/15 a.m. (the line also went around the building in this suburb east of Dallas). It seems like a pretty nice unit yet I can't help but have reservations about its writing quality after viewing this site for so long. Mebbe' I need to venture off to some place like Borrego Springs. :P

I didn't get squat either. At several Wal-Marts in our area, people got trampled and ended up at the hospital. Apparently WM was extremely light on security compared to other places (one thing that BB does do very well on BF around here is security and item placement). I only got up after my friend txt-ed me and told me they hadn't managed to get anything (around 5:30AM) and by the time I went the couple places (around 6AM) everything was gone.

But, I'm still getting my Gameboy Advance SP for Christmas. :)

Got 40 DVD titles for $3.44 each and a 10% discount on top of that!
$3 towels were a steal and I needed them to wipe the blood off my mangled body.

What 9550 are you talking about, video card, wireless card?

, you should have worn your kevlar.

I was in Jersey visiting my brother and woke up at 4am out of habit. Rather than stare at the ceiling I decided to slip out to Staples until everyone else woke up. I was fairly lucky and got some decent deals on another LCD monitor, nic cards and a Maxtor hard drive.

There were about fifty people outside the store at 6am when the doors opened but everyone behaved well, surprised me.

I was looking for a Radeon 9550 based video card. I want DVI for a Samsung 204t LCD, if I ever get one.

Hi Slim,

Hey I just did a little reading, the 9550 has nice bang for the buck. Are you trying to go dual display or solely looking to add the DVI?

.

No, just single display.

We're think of using room that I use for my PC for also TV viewing when I'm not using the PC.

So my tentative plan is to replace this 17" LCD monitor with something like the 20" Samsung 204t LCD monitor, 1600 x 1200 res, as the 17" is not big enough for watching from farther back.

I'm trying to avoid two screens so I thought that I could add like a Hauppagge WinTV-PVR-350 PCI TV tuner/capture card for TV.

My current LCD has DB15 input only but, as I understand it, one really needs DVI input for larger monitors, which the 9550 has.

I found a good Radeon 9600 based card by Crucial at a good price, refurbished though. It's on their site.

That way I'll have a top notch PC monitor but it should also be a good TV viewer with that resolution. I don't have HDTV signal capability.

What do you think of that for TV as compared to a high quality 20" LCD TV that is TV only? Like a Sharp Aquos or Samsung?

I honestly don't know, Slim. I'm still feeling a little ignorant regarding the LCD products. You probably already figured out that viewing angle might be an issue.

If you get the opportunity you might want to check Newegg. They have some nice pricing on Sapphire cards for a few dollars more. Of about half a dozen (9800 pro) cards that I've purchased only one started misbehaving. The fan failed due to dust build up on the fan so I can't fault Sapphire for that problem. Sapphire was (may continue to be) a OEM provider for ATI.

Edit- BTW the 204T is on sale at Circuit City for $585 after rebate..

Edit #2- Disclaimer; I own Circuit City stock. See Best Buy ad for 204T monitor.
