The new "Cyber Sunday" fad, where big online sales follow the first Sunday after Black Friday.

Why does ripit bother scanning those in? They're all available online.

btw.. I'd rather have you compile your own list of "good deals". Not just provide a link to another website.

I guess he likes to and many of the cd freaks probably don't do deal sites so its news to them. I hit Slick deals and fat wallet myself. I picked up the Mad Dog NEC 4550 drive today for 60 at Circuit City. Didn't bother to get up for BF this year again, nothing good enough to make it worth the lost sleep or hassle.

Are shure the drive is NEC 4550?, I thought 4550 is not yet in US market.
BTW; The drive in above ad from CompUSA for $49.99 is NEC3550 retail version made in Mylasia manufactured September 2005.

i went to the store and checked it myself -- they had hidden them on the other side (shelf spot was blank despite having at least five in stock), so i think they (compusa) may try something fishy agian
does come with some sort of nero suite though...

This drive:

is without doubt a NEC ND-4550. I have had one for several weeks. So the ND-4550 is in the U.S. you just need to know where to look..

it's a 4550, if you want some sort of NEC drive just buy a Mad Dog, it's the only manufacturer they sell in dvdrw drives. I have allready Loaded liggy and Dees latest 4550 tweaked firmware for it and set up the bitsetting. Too bad Pioneer is so anal about bitsetting or I might have tried their drive in this RAM enabled chipset.

any specific markings? dates of manufacture? tia

hmm
how to tell? maybe they just slap anything in the box like iomagic?
and did they finally start including recode in this software package?
thanks if anybody bothers to actually answer

Mad Dog has always used NEC drives. It would make sense that their new Super-Multi would be based on the ND-4550A.

The new box states dvd ram burning and says 16x triple format on it so its going to be hard to put anything other then a 4550 in it for a while. Model number is MD- 16x3DVD9-8x. Also double layer 8x and 9.4 gig probably refering to the dual sided RAM disk. The drive also supports error testing except for jitter.
