It looks like CompUSA has Mad Dog's NEC ND-4550A based drive on sale for $49.99 after a $20 MIR. Of course, its a Mad Dog MIR so your luck may vary.

I'd rather go on a date with Rosie O'Donnell than buy a MadDog deal at $0, AMIR.

The Verbatim DVD deals looked good, Bill, Thanks.
Ran a count here and have plenty for a while.
Looks like $0.30 per is a sticking point now and
not likely to go up so I expect continuing specials
at that price every 2 or three weeks.

Thank heavens the current media specials are
at reasonable prices and NMIR.

I remember how 2 years ago all the CD-R sales
for MIJ Fujis all had $7 to $10 rebates that you had to
wait 4 to 6 months to arrive.

Slim
Who would take Jenn out for dinner if she'd dump Monte again.

I got another 10 pack of the DL and a pack of the minus 16x, thanks. Most drives seem to do pretty well with the MCC stuff and the verbatim DL is the only ones worth having right now. Tempted to get some more of the Sony Plus at CUSA as my last batch was Yuden T02 and burns excellent at 12x
Getting tired of playing cheap media rulette and getting stuck with CMC and Ritek, or worse yet Prodisk or AN32 :o

I buy nothing but MIJ Fuji or Verbatim.

You guys are welcome.

I agree, the TY and Verbatim are the media of choice. Well supported by firmware and the cost compared to the cheaper brands is negligible today.

I did jump ship and bought some of the CMC Scratch-Less CD-Rs from Micro Center last week.
After I get the test rig finished I'll post a scan.

I don't miss the mail in rebates either, Slim. Never really understood why companies offer $5 or $10 rebates.. How much interest could they earn on our money after they deduct the administration cost? Seems like a waste of time for both parties.

Well, when I worked for a computer hardware company many moons ago, the industry average was between 20-25% of eligible purchases actually had rebates paid out on. The redemption rate was slightly higher, but people aren't always so bright and don't send in all the correct information, so pay out rate was lower.

That's why it makes sense for companies to do a mail-in rebate versus just $$ off. Why offer something for $5 off at the register, when you can offer a $5 rebate and instead only lose $1.25 per item?

I see your point. Any idea what the average overhead cost might be for processing a rebate?

No idea. I didn't really get involved in the costs of that. Plus its probably changed somewhat since I last was involved.
