Another boring week for media...

CompUSA is selling the BenQ 1640 ( Dolphs favorite drive ) in a Norwood box. I thought BenQ stopped manufacturing the 1640? Anyone know if we are seeing old stock or is the 1640 still being manufactured?

Best Buy

Verbatim 16x DVD-R, 50 for $15.
Fuji DVD+R DL, 15 for $25.

Sony DRU820 for $80.

Office Max

HP 16x DVD +or-R, 25 for $8 or 50 for $15 or 100 for $28..
HP 52x CD-R, 50 for $8 or 100 for $15.

Circuit City

TDK DVD +or-R, 25 for $7.
TDK CD-R, 50 for $7.

Sony DRU820 for $60 after $40 rebate. The external version cost $100 after $50 rebate.

Office Depot

Memorex 16x DVD +or-R, 100 for $30.
Memorex 52x CD-R, 100 for $15.

Staples

Staples label DVD +or-R, 50 for $13.

CompUSA

TDK CD-R, 100 for $18.

Norwood writer is going for $40 after $20 mfr rebate. As Ian had mentioned last week, you can identify the DW1640 from the DW1650 by looking just above the sku number. The Richmond VA store had about ten 1640s on display this past Friday.

I don't think that I'll be available for the ads the next couple of weekends. If anyone has the time I would appreciate the help.

Also dropping rebates.

Office Max, Office Depot and Best Buy are all Instant Savings now.

Circuit City seems to have MIRs only on software and they are the competitive, upgrade types.

Yeah, the rebate game has lost its appeal.

Circuit City has shot themselves in the foot by continuing to sell hard drives with (for example) $60 rebates. Why bother when you can go to Best Buy and avoid the rebate?

But, speaking of rebates :D Staples has some nice printer deals this week. I just ordered a Brother 8440 for $300. After rebate cost is $250 plus tax, no shipping. I paid over $400 for the same model about a year ago. If folks don't like Brother there are plenty of others on special.

Don't know, but for $200 I hope you try it out and let us know :D . Duplex printing and ethernet, very nice.

If no one here can help you, try the user reviews at Amazon... Most say it's a nice printer but some people think it pulls too many watts..
