Does anyone know what the quality of the media that Verbatim is putting on their 50 and 100 ct. spindles is like these days?

They're made by 2 or 3 different manufacturers... CMC, Prodisc and (maybe) MBI. You can tell the difference by looking at the serial numbers. Unfortunately, I don't know what to look for off the top of my head.

Personally, I've been pretty happy with the CMC manufactured discs. The Prodisc manufactured ones have been a little iffy with some drives.

Assuming it's MIT, If the spindle's "OPEN/LOCK" wording is sans-serif (like Arial font) it's usually Prodisc, and if it's in a serif font (like Times) it's usually CMC. As for the serial numbers, CMC starts like MAPA/MAP6 (for -R; MAPA is awesome, MAP6 not so much in my experience) or PAPA/PAP6 (for +R, again, PAPA is great and PAP6 isn't). Prodisc has a series of random letters or numbers, but will have a - or + in the middle to indicate the type of disc...

It seems like the CMC stuff is getting harder and harder to find. (and in my experience Prodisc is noticably, but not too much, worse than CMC. It's still better than almost all other media you can find at B&M)
