Thank you SO MUCH for doing this.

Are the non-LiteOn drives just as good?

Your Welcome! :D
The drives from Lite-On are much better than the ones from Benq, Optorite, and CyberDrive. I've heard of many people having problems with Benq drives, so I would personally stay away from them. If your looking for a good deal on a Lite-On drive, check out the TDK 48x16x48 deal from CompUSA. It's based on a Lite-On LTR-48246S, but uses TDK firmware. I've even heard of people flashing this drive to a 52x24x52 version. It was discussed in the CD-RW forum when the Lite-On 52246S came out a few months ago.

The drive on the Micro Advantage CD-RW box looks like a BTC drive to me with its oval logo. Anyone bought one of these??

Cendyne 52x drive...

My OfficeMax had the Cendyne 52x24x52 for $69 minus a $30 rebate. When I looked at it just before Xmas, it was $79 minus the rebate. $39 for this drive aint too shabby---it is most definitely a "6-series" Lite-On.

I'm tempted to get a Micro Advantage drive just for the heck of it.

I bought a Digital Research that was a BTC 16X (for $30 at Best Buys "Black Friday" sale in 2001) and I used it in my main rig for awhile and worked fine with no problems. Good ripping speed and I was able to copy a protected games with Clone CD. Is there any reviews of BTC 48x or 52X drives anywhere?

UPDATE: I went over to OfficeMax and looked at the box - its a BTC drive, but who knows what you'll get inside? No mention of any website on the box too.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll throw in BTC as one of the drives that you can receive for the Micro Advantage CD-RW drive. One thing that I'm fairly certain of is you won't be getting a Lite-On in those boxes.
