This is quite similar to the Best Buy and CompUSA threads below.
They have a Memorex 52x/24x/52x at $60 after rebates. I've read that Memorexs are also Lite-Ons. I've looked at the box, it does say SmartBurn but I also recall that it does have something like j???link.
What is the possibility that it is a Lite-On? Is there any other way to tell?
Thanks,
Slim

Memorex uses nothing but Lite-On drives for their 52x drives so far. I would be pretty confident in getting a Lite-On drive in the box. However, if Memorex has since changed just exhange the drive for another one.
By the way, I think you titled your thread wrong. It should be 1/26 To 2/1.

Here is what the Memorex website says:
SMART-BURN Smart Monitoring and Adapting Recording Technology for Extraction
and
Buffer-under-run Protection (Just Burn)
So I guess that the question is: Is the "Just Burn" related to, or imply "Just Link"?

An, one of the great mysteries of our time:

Well, not really a great mystery - just some marketing haze. In the end it appears that "Just Burn" is a term that at least some use with respect to LiteOn buffer underrun protection. But the important point is that you will find a LiteOn in your Memorex box.

Yes, wrong date. Thankfully, it was an obvious mistake.
cfitz: Thanks again for the input. I feel good about the Memorex as a choice.
