Thanks BuddhaTB. I went to OfficeMax and took a look at the $9.99 CDRW and couldn't determine what brand it was.

I also got the Visioneer 8700 USB scanner for only $15.99 after rebate, which is a great deal. The scanner is very fast and works very well.

Some of these Verbatim drives were made by Lite-On. The only way to really determine who made the drive is to find out the firmware #. I would run Nero's infotool on the drive and that should tell you the firmware #. Also if a model # is found on the drive label, that might be of some use too.

BTW, anyone know who makes Precision CDR media?

note: not the CDRW media in this hot deal above, but CDR media.

I think I read something in the past about them being made By Prodisc, but don't quote me on that because I'm not 100% sure.

Precision CD-R media is made by either Prodisc or CMC.

BuddhaTB, I can confirm that the drive is an Optorite CW 4802. For $9.99 it's a steal
