just got off work from staples and i just bought the Cendyne model #: LTR-52246S for $18.70

Staples is running a $30 mail in rebate on the Cendyne 52X burner, and in order to get the Lite-On version you have to look for the LTR-52246s on the back of the box under Drive Model

heres my breakdown:

$69.98 (price drop starts 3-2-03) - $22.40 (employee discount) - $30 MIR (starts 3-02-03) + 6.4% colorado sales tax = $18.70

but all you other folks it goes like this:

$69.98 (price drop starts 3-2-03) - $30 MIR (starts 3-2-03)

I might also add that for the sake of others it would be better to title the thread "Lite-On 52x for $39.98 at Staples". It's great that you got yours for $18.70, but most readers are not employees of Staples and can only get it for $39.98, so listing the price as $18.70 is nothing more than bragging. I won't tell you not to brag, if that is your thing, but if what you want to do is tell others about a good deal, it would be best to list the price accurately for their situation.

Still, thanks for spreading the word about the deal in general and for letting us know that at least some Staples still have LiteOn's in the Cendyne boxes.

man, don't get me wrong, best buy is a good place to work, but i was getting like 7-8 hours a week, and there about 30 minute drive

staples gaurentees me 30 hours a week, and pay better, and i can almost walk there, if not drive only 2 minutes

This $18.70 deal is AFTER TWO $10 Coupons he had. That boosts the price to $38 for anyone else. This is an OK deal, nothing special.

Yes, but I do check the Hot Deals forum also!

And that still won't stop me from running out to my driveway @ 5:30AM, tomorrow (Sunday) to grab my papers.

I grabbed one of these (LTR-52246S) today at Office Max.

They were advertising a different brand/model for $49.99 that had a $30 MIR but were sold out. Being the gracious place that Office Max is, they substitued a CenDyne for whatever brand/model they were out of and it just so happens to the the LTR-52246S, which had an original price tag of $99. They dropped the price to $49.99 and the $30 MIR accompanies the product.

My breakdown goes something like:
$49.99 - $10.00 (discount card I received in the mail) - $30 MIR = around $12 bucks after tax...

wow you lucked out there, cause with staples, if its not in stock we can order it right there in the store for the same price, free shipping, and print out the rebate for you

is the rebate offered elsewhere?

I just purchased the Lite-on last week at googlegear,,Is there a mail in rebate I can find somwhere, that would apply?
thanks,

Not likely. Rebates are usually only good for the time at which you made the purchase, and from the retailer from who you purchased. So unless googlegear offered a rebate for the time last week when you purchased it, you are out of luck.

ok i just got off work again, and today there was a $10 price reduction, along with a $30 mail in rebate, but they just gave me the rebate instantly, so i walked out with $40

taking that off the price, the drive only costed me $10.64
