What about Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 (200GB) SATA Hard Drive?

Postby cold_fusion on Tue Dec 16, 2003 7:06 pm

The one I'm about to buy is:

MAXTOR DiamondMax Plus 9 (200GB) SATA Hard Drive

Model: 6Y200M0

Maximum Capacity of 200.0 GB

Ultra ATA/133 & SATA 150 Compatible Models

9.3 ms Average Seek Time

2MB & 8MB Cache Buffer

FDB Motors

7200 RPM

Would this be a good choice or should I go for the well rated best seller 160GB one? Thanx for all the feedback so far! :D :D

Definitely get the 8MB buffer version.... There are measurable difference in performance and since you are going with SATA, no reason to get the 2MB version (although I am not aware that there are 2MB version of SATA drives from Maxtor)...
Well, it really depends if you can find good enough pricing for 200GB. I would say that 160GB would probably be at a slightly better pricing point at this time...

Just my $0.02.

All of the SATA drives are 8MB. I have the 120GB SATA version of this drive and I love it!
