What's good but not expensive cdr media these days...

Postby AndyD2k on Wed Mar 23, 2005 1:10 am

I finally ran out of my supply of Verbatim DataLifePlus cdrs (I had stocked up while BJs was still selling them for a great price). I really don't want to spend more than 25 for a 100 pack but I also don't want to buy something that won't last more than a year. Any recommendations?

I buy Fuji. Look for 'made in Japan" on the package. This will mean that they are made by TY.

Look in the Hot Deals forum. You will find good deals on CD-R's from time to time. I agree that Maxell usually packages Ritek discs in their spindles. Other brands package Ritek discs as well; take a look at this thread to learn how to decipher between spindles.

You can always buy discs online too:

100 Ritek discs for $13 - http://ahhaweb.com/cart/product_info.ph ... cts_id=136

100 Ritek discs for $14 - http://www.shop4tech.com/user.htm?go=vi ... ta=33_r158

I have never bought from Ahhaweb, but they received decent reviews on Pricewatch.com. I have bought from Shop4Tech several times, and each transaction went smoothly. There is no indication in the product description that the Shop4Tech discs are Ritek, but I ordered this exact same set and CDR Identifier identified them as Ritek.

Thanks for the info/article guys. I was hoping to buy online so unless there is a way for me to tell where the Fujis were made online then I probably will skip for now. I'll make sure to check them out the next time I see a local sale.

Looks like I'll be going with the link from shop4tech and hope it reads Ritek as well :)
