What do you mean by best? Best can mean a bunch of things. Start off by reading the reviews of all the 52x drives here:
http://www.cdrlabs.com/reviews/

After you have read all the reviews and know what your looking for, then that would be the best to ask everyone.
Lite-On, Sony, TDK, Samsung, and LG all have very good 52x drives. If you want a good 52x burner for cheap, then go with the Lite-On, Sony, or TDK. But like I said, read all the reviews first.

Sorry for not defining best. By best I mean the fastest and most reliable. Is powerburn a good feature?

My vote is for ASUS:http://www.cdrlabs.com/reviews/index.php?reviewid=173&page=Performance
Another fact is ASUS has a power on rating of 100,000hrs vs. Lite-On's 70,000.Also ASUS drives are a hell of lot quieter than Lite-On,my Lite-On 16x DVD-ROM sounds like a damn jet engine.
Just my .02

I would go for Lite-On if you fast and reliable. Powerburn is a good feature like any other buffer-underrun protection.
Go with the Sony if you can get it for a good price. It's based on a Lite-On drive, so it'll be very good.

Liteon based drive is the best 52x drive out there. Check out the Media Compatibility With CD-RW Drives - Which Media Is Best? thread (http://www.cdrlabs.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=6005&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=). You will find this drive is fast and great.
