Thecus Technology Corp. today announced the launch of the latest addition to its Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 NAS series, the W12850 and W16850. These 12-bay and 16-bay network-attached storage solutions offer massive scalability, exceptional performance and resilient data integrity.

The rackmounts are powered by the Intel Haswell E3-1231 quad-core processor and 16 GB of DDR3 ECC memory (upgradable to 32 GB), delivering lightning fast and persistent throughput speeds.Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 Standard comes pre-installed on a 60-GB-SSD for fast boot and response times. The operating system has a rich list of feature sets, including Storage Spaces and duplicate data removal with Data Deduplication. The W12850 and W16850 support installation of a LSI 3108 Hardware-RAID card, reducing CPU utilization thus enhancing system performance.
Compared to the W12000 and W16000 which are equipped with an Intel Xeon Sandy Bridge processor, the new W12850 and W16850 are powered by Intel’s Haswell generation of processor with Hyper-Threading for almost double the instruction throughput. Besides greater performance and a reduction in power consumption, these new rackmounts also get a boost from the internal SSD for the OS instead of the previously used HDD. With their new processing power, ultra-fast high-scalability, enterprises are guaranteed data accuracy and protection with these latest Window based NAS.
