Lite-on Firmware

Postby buff nasty on Tue Dec 17, 2002 5:56 pm

I downloaded the updated firmware for my lite-on 52246s but I am not sure what version of firmware I am currently running. How do I check to find out, and is there any way to fix my firmware if it gets screwed up?

Use NERO InfoTool to find your version. Yes there is a way to fix your firmware if it gets screwed up; mtkflash.

most burning programs, such as Nero, CloneCD, will also show you what firmware is in your drive (drive properties display or something to that effect).

you can download Nero InfoTool from www.cdspeed2000.com

So if the firmware gets screwed up (power supply, wrong firmware, etc) i can just use mtkflash to re-flash it?

btw. does anyone know what's up with this file:

http://www.liteonit.com/webfw/LTR-52246S/R526S08.zip

I believe it's LTR-52246S firmware update 6S08 from Lite-On, but it's not listed on their download page. Is it a beta or something?

Where did you find that file if it's not listed on the download site?
I got the file, but will not be flashing my drive with it, unless it magically appears on the download site.

I have the LTR-52246s with 6s07.

I changed a few paramaters of that link and get the "You are not authorized to view this page" error. So, I think it's a link to the the LiteOn beta area.

That is an official firmware, but I guess Lite-ON didn't update their site yet. I can't wait to try this out! Come on guys, it's not that risky...

Why update firmware?

Postby buff nasty on Wed Dec 18, 2002 12:14 pm

OK, so I updated the firmware, now what is the benefit supposed to be? I am still not sure why anyone should bother with updating the firmware. What is it supposed to do?

Well, I've just installed it. It's a legitmate firmware.

I'm not sure what changes were made, Nero info tool still reports exactly the same as it did with 6s07.

Time will tell.

Firmware is shown in Win XP

Postby dbreaux on Thu Dec 19, 2002 12:27 am

Well it's shown if you have In CD installed. Instead of using device manager simply double click My Computer and go to your CDRW icon. Right click and select Properties. Then select the IN CD Page Settings tab. The firmware is shown to the right of the drive name.

Thanks for the tip, but I do know what firmware I'm running. I meant the changes between 6s07 to 6s08.

I'll know later tonight if 99 minute discs still work.
