Bad Experience with BUSLINK

What was that?

Bad Experience with BUSLINK

Postby dforion on Tue Jun 10, 2003 4:02 pm

Three months ago I purchased a BusLink 52x CDRW at Circuit City. I bought it there because of the two rebates. The Circuit City rebate-receipts suggest I should receive my rebates in eight weeks.

The Circuit City rebate (processed by the rebate center in Young America, MN) arrived in five weeks. :D Bravo !!!

Not such good news from Buslink. It is now 12 weeks and Buslink still has NOT issued the rebate.

BusLink doesn't answer their 800 number; instead it is an answering machine and they do not return calls. I have had some brief email replies from them. First they ask what "Program" I sent the rebate to. When I give them the PROMO number, they say "your rebate has been accepted and will be sent shortly". When I ask WHEN will it go out, BusLink asks me (again) for the PROMO number. When I give them the PROMO number, they say "your rebate has been accepted and will be sent shortly". I am stuck in this endless loop with BusLink.

I certainly will NEVER buy anything again from BusLink, and encourage my collegues at CDRLABS to avoid BusLink also.

I will also be contacting Circuit City's Corporate office requesting they replace BusLink with a supplier that keeps it word about rebates to customers.

I received both of my $20 rebates from BUSLink: one in late April and the other in early May.

I didn't think that it would ever show up...but, to my surprise, it did. :)

I bought both of my BUSLink (OEM Lite-On LTR-52246S) drives in late December 2002 at Best Buy.

My solution to the Plextor vs. Lite-On debate: Buy 'em both! :)

I also am waiting for my Buslink rebates.

One purchased at 12/31/02 last year, one in Feb, one in March.

So far no rebates, and no answer from Buslink.

I am hoping I get the check soon. Otherwise I'm going to go to Best Buy, Circuit City, and Microcenter and gripe about this problem and get them to do something...

Rebates suck :(

Thanks to all of you for sharing your experiences with BusLink rebates. I have emailed BusLink with this Link so they can see the complaints stacking up against them.

I also sent the link to Circuit City Customer Service at http://www.circuitcity.com/cs_customer_ ... 6+Services urging Circuit City to drop BusLink as a supplier because BusLink is NOT honoring the 8 week time limit to deliver rebates.

I invite and encourage all of you to do the same. Circuit City's toll-free number is 800-843-2489 (800-THE-CITY). BusLink's contact information is:

434 Cloverleaf Dr., Baldwin Park, CA 91706
Telephone: 626-336-1888
Fax: 626-968-8100
http://www.buslink.com/ver2/contact.htm

When I get the President's contact info, I will post it here.

Complaints can also be posted here: http://www.thecomplaintstation.com/

I have 3 Buslink CD-RW rebates outstanding, one from Dec 2002.

I have called Best Buy at 1-800-369-5050, and they have opened a case ID to help resolve this issue.

I suggest you call Best Buy at this number and go to the rebate menu to speak to a rep if you have the same issue.

I'm very disappointed at Buslink, and have vowed to never buy any Buslink products in the future.

On my future trip down to LA, I'm going to drive to Baldwin Park and complain in person.

The lesson I have learned from this is to purchase items with rebates that are processed only by competent firms like the "YoungAmerica" folks who service Circuit City, Western Digital, T-Mobile, OfficeMax etc. Staples uses http://www.easierrebates.com/ whick are O.K.

AVOID "direct from distributor" rebates like BUSlink!

You know rebates would be no problem if bestbuy was the one filling them out and submitting them to the OEMs.

BUSlink- Unbelievable!

Postby dforion on Fri Jun 20, 2003 3:17 pm

All my complaining to BUSlink and my complaint to Circuit City paid off as I just got a check in the mail from BUSlink, but it was not a rebate check!

Instead of a standard computer-printed rebate check, BUSlink sent me a handwritten Money Order ! Universal Buslink's name, address, and my name are all handwritten ! It appears as though someone went down to the corner grocery store and bought a money order and sent it to me. Even my address on the envelope is handwritten.

What kind of a company is this? :o

Buslink rebate - lack of.

Postby shock on Fri Jun 27, 2003 11:58 am

I too purchased a Buslink 52x24x52. I bought it from Micro Center on
February 6. I sent in the rebate info *that day*. I still haven't received
my rebate. Thankfully I kept copies of everything, but so far it isn't
doing me a whole lot of good.

I've filled out their online form 3 or 4 times (couple weeks apart) - no
reply. I've called their toll free number (extension 512!) - no reply.

Based on their customer service, I'm afraid they'll file for bankruptcy
before I get my $30!

Here's a bit of an update:

First of all, my lite-on (via buslink) died on me. I RMA'd it back to Buslink
and surprisingly, I received a replacement in about 2 weeks. And it was
a 52x32x52 lite-on instead of the 52x24x52 I originally purchased. So,
their RMA service seems acceptable.

On the rebate front, I filed with the Better Business Bureau in Los
Angeles County a couple of weeks ago. This past Monday (3 days ago)
I called Buslink to check on the status of my rebate which is now over
8 months since I filed it. The woman that I talked to told me she was
going to send it "up to accounting" in order for them to issue a check to
me and I should receive it in the next 3-4 days (this is something they've
never told me before). No check yet, but I'll give them a few more days.

Even if I do get a check from them, I'll never buy another Buslink product
again. Especially if there is a rebate involved!

Buyer beware.

Yes, I've seen that. Thanks.

Good news. I finally got my rebate yesterday, November 3. Almost 9 months exactly since I sent it in. Keep in mind though, if I hadn't called I seriously doubt I would have gotten it.

I'll have to send an update to the LA County BBB now.

Thanks for listening.
