New 8x DVD±RW from Creative Labs

Yeah, it looks like Creative Labs is going to sell an 8x DVD±RW here in the States. Due to the lack of Creative drives in stores, I thought they had pulled out of the US market long ago.

Looks like a Lite-On LDW-811S clone to me..

It's a BTC DRW 1008IM. There's a firmware out for it already (Creative labs DR8420E - 0053). If you look closely at the picture on the site you'll notice the telltale groove in the bottom of the tray. It's hard to see in the pic, but it's there.

It should show up as "CREATIVEDVDRW DR8420E"

Yeah, it's almost impossible to see, the firmware flasher is a better giveaway.

BTW, if anyone gets one of these and wants to test an RPC-1 patch, let me know...
