yes...it's very interesting to see what things were fixed with this f.w.

i wonder if from now on there'll be separate firmwares for the 2 07 models and what's the differeces between them

Here's the firmware update for the DVR-A07XL ("advanced" version):

http://www.pioneeraus.com.au/computer/d ... aimer.aspx

According to Pioneer's website, you can't use the firmware for the DVR-107D on the DVR-A07XL. Anyone know if the DVR-107D firmware works on the normal DVR-A07?

In windows commad prompt:

DVRFLASH -vf G: R7100107.112

If you boot directly with DOS is another story since the drive is not accesible by a LETTER.

As i mentioned when i got the drive, to be able to burn 4x media @8x i had to flash my DVR-A07XL to hacked 1.10 firmware which is for the DVR-107D(both kernel and firmware part). The drice worked just fine.
The problem now is that i cant flash to the new 1.12 firmware either for my drive or for the DVR-107D.
From what i understand each firmware version uses different kernel files?
Is there any procedure to get the kernel files from the firmwares?
I have contacted pioneer about the kernel file of the DVR-A07XL, but i doubt if get an answer.

No, only if the kernel suffer modification. You can flash your drive with previous kernel and new firmware.

The kernel part is not hacked, the other certainly yes, anyway you can flash with the normal part only, I just did mine:

with DVRFlash -vf H: R7100107.112

Try with the A07XL, since your drive is this model.

I'm testing CD-RW write right now.

Without having touched the firmware, I would say no. Pioneer has already stated they will not be supporting overclocking of media. Although, if they really wanted to not support overclocking, they would have made their firmware more difficult to modify!

Is it only a coincedence that we can get DVD-R to burn at 8x, but not DVD+R in the hacked firmware? I think this was something Pioneer expected!

Can anyone report on the burning quality and speed using 4X +R media such as the Ricoh media with the new 1.12 firmware?
