Was about to post the same thing. Note that that price includes a 17.5% sales tax, so the real price for international comparison is £5.95/disc. Still more expensive than $9.99 though.... (more like $11 at present exchange rates).

I'll wait until the Ritek DVD+R9's actually work in a few DVD burners first I think

Works fine with VS0A. ;) The firmware I used for my burn was related to VS0A...

Though it seems like the quality of the disc itself isn't as good as MKM001. But knowing you, you're probably expecting that or something, right? :P

(of course, there is so much variation in +R DL anyway that one really shouldn't judge with just one burn)

I think that applies to every CD/DVD media because of (questionable) burn and/or reading quality difference among burners.

Yes, but more so with +R DL because of variation in the media itself (not burn/reading). I mean, with a 50% failure rate for MCC, you could imagine what kind of variation within the non-failing discs that would imply!

MCC does not have a failure rate of 50% anymore... that is more where Ritek and CMC are... still MCC is having more problems then they would like to admit :o

However! there may be a solution to this on the horizon

Umm... not sure I'm allowed to

put very simply, there may be a way to increase yield results for DVD+R9 media significantly.

According to this thread, it's the Ricoh ones that are supported in the new 2.16 firmware.
