which of these dvd burners is the best one to get?

which of these dvd burners is the best one to get?

1) BenQ DW1640 16x DVD±RW

2) Plextor PX-740A 16x DVD±RW

3) Sony DRU-810A 16x DVD±RW

or is there something better you guys recommend?


also is it best to get a seperate dvd rom player to play cd and dvd?

Interesting you should pick those three drives. They are in actuallity one in the same! Except for their firmwares versions and their price. So FW/$$ being the deciding factors, you should go with the BenQ! Enjoy it :D

ASUS 1608P2 >> Crossflashed to Pioneer 110 -> RAM+Bitsetting+removed riplock+RPC1 :D

Boost Mobile stole my minutes, then would rather loose me as a customer than give back my minutes (thieves).

wow i didnt know that.

so there all the same drive? how so?


if i get the benq 1640 from newegg. i just need to upgrade the firmware tot the latest? anything else i need?

should i get a separate dvd rom?

so no need to worry about wear and tear using the Benq 1640 as a dvd and cd reader too.

Well the difference in price between a burner and a rom drive is like $10, so if you wanted a second drive go with another burner :)

You'll probably upgrade before you wear out the drive. At today's prices, they've almost become disposable.
