Is it LTR-48125W or something else

Postby M17 on Tue Dec 17, 2002 12:04 pm

Hi
On sunday I got a pacific digital at staples. It's a lite on for sure, it looks identical to my LTR-48126s. It is a 48x12x48x, comes with a VSG3 firmware. Nero sees it as a pacific digital model and not a lite on. LTR-48125W are the only ones that use the VSxx firmware. I know I can flash it to make it true liteon.
Could this drive be any other liteon model, either LTR-48125S or LTR-48126S?
Thanks

It is a Lite-ON 48125W. Would you please back up the firmware and send it to me for my archive?

Did I get a different drive?

I also bought a PD Mach48 at Staples in hopes of getting a cheap Lite-on drive. I just hooked the drive up and it is identified as "CD-RW CDR-5W48" and not "LTR-..." like I had expected. Additionally, I tried using the Lite-on firmware upgrade for their 48125W drive and it failed claiming it couldn't find a target drive.

Can anyone help me determine if I have a Lite-on? If I do, I'll need to spend some time troubleshooting Nero to recognize the drive. If it is not a Lite-on I plan on returning the drive and won't waste any more time with it.

Thanks...

Of course you can't flash your drive, didn't you notice that the flasher said "This is only for LTR-48125W drives" or something like that. Use flashfix on the flasher, then try. I would back up your firmware with mtkflash before you go messing around.

Ok, it's a LTR-48125W.
dhc014 can you send me your email address in about 10 days from now and I will send you copy of the firmware. I just don't have the time to mess with it right now. I know it doesn't take long, but I have no time now.

blakenan,
That's what my pacific digital is recognized as CD-RW CDR-5W48. But it really is a lite on. Mine has the classic liteon face plate with only "48x12x48x" logo. Also do what I did and look at your firmware version. With CD Speed click "EXTRA" and then "drive check".

If it is a oem liteon and you want to make it a 'real' liteon take dhc014 advice and back up your firmware, and read up on the subject.
thanks

My email address should be visible below. Yes, this sounds very similar to what 4kus does with their drives. you can use FlashFix from digi's site to patch the lite-on firmware updater to flash your drive...
