CDRLabs.com Subscription FAQ

Postby socheat on Mon Aug 29, 2005 12:24 pm

We'll post frequently asked questions about the subscription process here, as they come in. We'll start with a couple I know people are going to ask about.

How do I subscribe?
You must first login to the forums, and then you MUST use this subscription form. If you do not use this form, you will not automatically be subscribed, advertisements will still be visible, and we will have to manually add you to the correct subscription group. Please use the subscription form. For more instructions, check out this thread.

Does CDRLabs.com store our personal or credit card information?
No. All payments are handled through PayPal, so we never see your credit card or personal information.

What about the subscriptions with auto-renewal? How are those handled?
Again, all payments are handled through PayPal. PayPal has a subscription feature with auto-renewal. PayPal handles the automatic credit card charging process as well.

When I cancel my subscription, does my subscription end immediately?
No. When you cancel your current subscription, you will be allowed to finish out the duration of that subscription.

I signed up for a subscription, but I still see advertisements!
First, check your PayPal account to make sure the transaction is "Complete". If it's listed as "Pending", see the question below.

Next, check to see if you are logged in. You need to be logged in, otherwise we won't be able to look up your user's subscription status. The most useful thing to do is to use the "Automatically Log Me in" option. If you are logged in and you are still seeing advertisements, check your browser security settings. CDRLabs.com needs to be able to either start a session or place a cookie for authentication purposes.

I signed up, but my payment status in PayPal says Pending?
Sometimes, PayPal takes a couple days to charge the account. As such, we've added a 3-day grace/free subscription period. When you sign up for a subscription, you will automatically get 3 days free. This will allow you to have ad-free access while PayPal processes your payment. If your payment processes immediately, those 3 days are completely free! :)

What do I get with a subscription?
Our undying gratitude. ;) Seriously, all advertisements (banners, pop-ups, pop-unders, etc) will disappear. You will also get access to a Subcriber's Only forum, plus an increase in your image attachment quotas. If we find other things we can offer, we probably will.

without the annoying ad banners

Banners are ok, what about the very annoying pop-down windows. Knowing that popup/popdown windows are universally despised, that this site still uses them is something I take issue with.

The subscription covers all ads, including the pop behinds.

Hi
Just a question regarding emails, why is a @gmx.net address not allowed?

We had a lot of spammers using that host at one time. That was years ago though, so I removed the ban.
