Erasing CDRW

Postby AirTimid on Thu May 19, 2005 3:06 pm

using Nero 6.3.1.15 and Benq 1620pro (B7V9)

I'm having a hell of a time with erasing a CDRW. I'm using Verbatim 4x-12x brand. I want to use Backitup and when I test it seems to work. That is with a new disc. Now, I figure I needed to erase the disc, to perform a new backup on said disc. So, i run a quick erase, the timer says 2 minutes, but after about 20 secs, the drive opens like the process is done. So, I go and check the disc and all the files are still on it OR i check the disc and the drive doesn't even recognize it, ie. blank. But when I try to use it with backitup, it fails because I believe it still thinks data is still on the disc. Should I be trying a full erase everytime instead of the quick erase? Is there a preferred method to erase the disc? I don't think it's the discs since everything i've read seems to point to Verbatim being one of the better brands for CDRW. Thanks in advance.

do a full erase.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
