In House Review - SanDisk Extreme II 240GB Solid State Drive

Postby Ian on Thu Jun 20, 2013 3:00 pm

Today, CDRLabs brings you a review of SanDisk's new Extreme II SSD. This ultra-slim SSD is powered by Marvell's 88SS9187 "Monet" controller and is equipped with SanDisk's new 19nm eX2 ABL MLC Toggle NAND flash to deliver up to 550 MB/s sequential read and 510 MB/s sequential write speeds. The Extreme II also packs a sizeable DRAM cache and offers features like TRIM support, wear-leveling, background garbage collection and SanDisk's nCache technology which uses a large non-volatile SLC cache to improve random write performance.

Looks like a competitor to the Plextor M5P, also in price :\

Really nice performance, but I still don´t trust the Sandisk FW-Support. I have have some "Standard"-Sandisk, first with FW1.0.0, second with 2.0.0. But you cant´t update the 1.0.0-SSDs because Sandisk don´t release this update :(

A nice SSD, but I would prefer the Plextor

I like Marvell-SSD-Controller, but it gets boring, so many SSDs with Marvell-Controller. Soon a new Sandforce should be released, maybe this could be interesting :)
Benq DW 1640 and 1650 , Plextor PX-755, Pioneer BDR-208 and 209D, LG GH24NSC0, LG BH16NS40 and 16NS55, Liteon ihas 124F and 324F, Pioneer DVR-215 and S21, Samsung SH-224DB and 224GB, and some more
