Liteon 166s DVD - Stuttering and pauses with a few DVD's

Postby bloc on Sun Jul 13, 2003 2:39 am

Hi there,
I own a Liteon 166s DVD player. I haven't watched a lot of DVD's with it, but I purchased it several months back because I figure it's better to spend a little more to get DVD and CD playability.

I've noticed now that on about 30% of the DVD's I've tried to play with the Drive, I get reading problems with the player I use (PowerDVD or WinDVD).

It will stutter, pause, or completely stop playing.

I've upgraded to the May 2003 Firmware, which should be the newest one.

1) Has anyone had this problem with their Liteon driver? Is this expected?

2) DVD's are barely scratched, but I've seen worse CD's that have still been playable. Are DVD's more sensitive?

3) Guess I should RMA or return the DVD asap? Been almost 8 months...

Thanks,
b.

Check and see if you have DMA enabled before you RMA it.
