Mad Dog 8x Dual Format Dvd Burner $99.99 after rebate

Postby hydrogen on Sun Feb 29, 2004 8:23 am

Compusa has the Mad Dog 8x Dual Format dvd burner for $99.99 after rebate. It's $149.99 - $20 instant savings - $30 mail in rebate = $99.99

I started a thread asking who makes this drive and is it a real drive made by the company or is the drive id changed so you can't use the companies firmware from their web site. If you know please post in that thread.

a word of warning: Mad Dog has a bad reputation where rebates are concerned.

One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them

Thank you for the warning. I'm glad you posted that so everyone will be warned before they buy a Mad Dog product.

I'm curious who makes this drive.

I replied in another thread where you asked this that one person reported getting an NEC ND-2500A drive in the package.

So far, that's the only comment I've seen on the drive.

Thank you. I'll go check that post right now. I can't believe someone got a Nec drive. I thought they would be some crappy brand like Btc or something. If these are Nec's then this is a good deal if you get the rebate back. They may be black drives. The picture on the box at the web site shows they are.

No idea.

My NEC drive that I got in the Pacific Digital box was beige.

Thank you. I edited my post a little. The picture at the web site shows them being black. This may be a really good deal if they are. I know people are looking for black drives.

You can get a black NEC ND-2500A drive for $100 shipped from Newegg.com right now. No rebates to worry about. OEM version, though.

Thank you for telling me about that. I'm the one who posted that deal in this thread :D

It doesn't come with software and I think the Mad Dog does since it's retail so that's why I said it would be a good deal. A lot of people don't have software to burn with.

It will be a good deal if you get the rebate. If you don't then it's bad.

I would be really careful about buying this drive is you really want the NEC. As most know, CompUSA with change you a large restocking fee on returned items. I think its like 15-20% or something.
