Fastest DVD (movie) ripping?

Fastest DVD (movie) ripping?

Postby burticus on Wed Mar 10, 2004 12:23 pm

All..... what's the fastest dvd-rom to rip dvd-video? Noise isn't a concern...

My NEC 1100a dvd+rw is super SLOW ripping movies. Might hit 3.5-4x on a REALLY good day. My el-cheapo BTC 16x averages between 3.x-6x. It seems to take a big beating on dual layer - which almost everything is nowadays. And sometimes it just freaks out and can't read a disc and I have to use the NEC, which works, but there has got to be something faster. 30-40 mins a movie is a beatdown.

Get a Lite-On 165/166 they can rip a single layer DVD up to 16x and a dual layer at 10x.
Cost is about $35USD:
www.newegg.com
www.zipzoomfly.com

I think Best Buy and Circuit City sell them too.

I agree that the Liteon 166S is a fast burner when comes to ripping dual layered dvds. It is also rips music CDs fast.
