Asus E616 problems

hi there all,


facing a big problem with the asus e616. only encountered this problem after i switched motherboard and processor. did a format and reinstall of windows xp professional but to no avail.

currently using the giga-byte titan PE6667 titan ultra2 motherboard. problem with the dvd rom drive is that after i changed motherboard and processor, the drive can read and play anything except dvds. whenever i try to play a dvd it will give me an error msg saying that the software has an error. i tried to locate dma settings via device manager but there is no options there for me to edit. under the secondary ide controller it says that my dvd rom is runnin ultra dma 5 already. is there any kinda soul who would be willing to guide me step by step? my msn account is cobain3380@hotmail.com

hi there bro,

thanks for the help but i tried everything it says there to no avail. tried uninstalling the controller and after windows auto detected the drives again, the dvd rom still cannot be played. there is the advance tab at device manager's ide controller now and it states that my dvd from is in udma mode 5. what could be the problem?

yep reinstalled it. formatted and clean install but to no avail.

i think this is a must:
take the drive out of the computer and install it in a different computer (preferably one that has a woking DVD-ROM drive) and see if it works there.
