Remove "LINK" from favorites

Postby Intimidator on Sun Oct 17, 2004 2:44 pm

How can I remove the "LINK" folder which is empty from XP home?

Everytime I delete this it keeps coming back?

Thanks!

I'm not sure if there is a way to prevent that folder from coming back, but I have a solution that works for me:

1.) From the Internet Explorer Favorites menu, right-click on the "Links" folder and choose Properties.

2.) Click the Hidden attribute at the bottom of the Properties page, then click OK.

3.) Restart Internet Explorer.

The folder will still exist within your file-system, but it will no longer appear in your Favorites menu.

I hope that helps!

Just heard about this

There is also a reg tweak to remove it for good

- Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar
- There is an entry LinksFolderName with value Links. Just make this blank.
- Delete the Links folder from Windows Explorer

How do you bring it back after it is HIDDEN?

I figured it out:

You have to show ALL files and folders under windows explorer -> tools -> folder options -> view tab.

You do realise you can remove the M$ links and add your own, right? I did not know that for a long time. Now I have "radio" buttons to a few of my favorites.
BTW, you can right click on the tool bar and uncheck "Links" to get rid of them.

yeah, but it's still in the Favorites menu, no matter how many times you delete the folder :x
