How to play DVDs on Win98SE ?

Postby taidi on Mon Jul 03, 2006 12:00 pm

Complete novice at this, - I thought Media Player Classic would do it but read on the codeguide FAQs http://www.codecguide.com/faq.htm that..

"Media Player Classic can only play DVDs on Windows 2000/XP/2003. Playing DVDs won't work on Windows 95/98/ME/NT4."

So can some kind soul advise a cheap or free alternative ? I have seen OEM verions of PowerDVD available but usually a DVD drive has to be bought at the same time. [-o<

DVD software

I don't know any free players but you can get older versions of Power DVD really cheap on eBay or try a computer swap meet. You probably need an older version anyway, newer versions may not support Windows 98. Now that Microsoft has stopped supporting it you can expect to see other software suppliers also drop support for it...
