ISO vs UDF & Nero 6.6.0.16 vs 6.6.0.18

Postby btiger on Mon Jan 08, 2007 12:08 am

I've been using 6.6.0.16 for a LONG time without problems!

1)Is it normal for Nero to prompt me to use UDF instead of the default ISO when making data dvd when one of my file is larger than 2 GB?

2)Is ISO a better format than UDF? or else why NOT the default be UDF, so that it can accommodate files both less than and greater than 2GB/per file? vs the ISO which can only takes files less than 2GB/per file?

3)Any advantages/improvements in Nero 6.6.0.18 vs the good old Nero 6.6.0.16?

Thanks and best regards.

Yes it is. ISO 9660 cannot handle files larger than 4 GB and in most implementations not larger than 2 GB.

UDF is more advanced than ISO. Is it better? Well that depends...

Some tools understand the ISO 9660 format and not the UDF formats, so ISO 9660 is more widely compatible with tools.

It's so long since I've upgraded that I don't remember. I've since moved on to Nero 6.6.1.6 (an OEM upgrade to 6.6.1.4).

Unfortunately there's no Nero 6 Release Notes later than 6.6.0.16.

Thanks DrageMester for the info!

From reading your reply, I guess the latest Nero 6 version is 6.6.1.6, however I could only find 6.6.1.4 from Nero....where can I get 6.6.1.6? link?

p/s How do you like 6.6.1.6?

Thanks and best regards.

I'm curious about this too. The latest OEM disc I have from a new drive says that it is 6.6.0.1.4 and my updated install says 6.6.1.4. Where can one find 6.6.16?

And are any of the Nero Ultra 6 apps updated but not generally available on the update site?

Thanks,
Mike

Nero 6.6.1.6 is an OEM release/upgrade for Fujitsu-Siemens Computers, but it actually works as a general upgrade for any Nero 6.6 regardless of whether you have an FSC system or not.

It solves a few general issues including the ridiculous amount of memory used by versions 6.6.0.18 ... 6.6.1.4.

I have no idea why the generic download version isn't 6.6.1.6 instead of 6.6.1.4.

You can download it from this direct link.

It works well for me although I use ImgBurn more than Nero these days.

Thanks for the 6.6.1.6 link, DrageMester 8)

6.6.1.6 seems to be quicker than my good old 6.6.0.16 :D and I hope that the "memory" issue of prior versions (including 6.6.0.16!) could be the cause of my problems when running eMule for a few days and using Nero to burn DVDRs at the same time - causes most of my programs not responding and/or icons all messed up/missing/washed out.

Since there is no official link for the 6.6.1.6, I'm using the NeroVision Express - NVE-3.1.0.25_no_yt.exe (3.1.0.25) January 31st, 2006 from the 6.6.1.4 folder/file, is this the latest copy?

Best regards.

Yes, AFAIK that is the latest Nero 6 version of NeroVision Express.
