Plextor Releases 1.03 Firmware For M5P and M5Pro SSDs

Postby Ian on Wed Feb 20, 2013 4:52 pm

Plextor has released the 1.03 firmware for their M5P and M5Pro and the the 1.02 firmware for the M5M series SSD. One thing that's interesting is that there are separate updates for the old M5P and the new M5Pro. I don't think that was the case with the 1.02 firmware.

This firmware revision improves:
1. PCMark scores under some conditions
2. Data error recovery capability
3. Drive stability under heavy loading

I'd hold off on updating your drive for now. There seems to be a garbage collection issue with the 1.03 firmware. Not sure if it applies to just the newer M5Pro or both it and the M5P yet.

Looks like the firmware is fine with the older M5P. Still fighting with the newer version of the drive.
