NVELO Dataplex v1.3.0.1 - Final Release & Support Sunset

Postby Ian on Fri May 01, 2015 3:18 pm

I'm guessing I'm probably one of the few people that uses an SSD cache but if you do and you're using NVELO's Dataplex software, you'll probably want to read this.

We here at NVELO are passionate about performance. Dataplex was our first step towards unlocking the potential of intelligent caching technology, and has allowed our customers to enjoy SSD-level performance across the full storage capacity of a standard HDD.

In December 2012, NVELO became a wholly owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. As part of Samsung’s R&D team, we have taken our mission to the next level, contributing to the technology inside Samsung’s newest, most high-performance storage products.

Very soon, we will be retiring support for the Dataplex product. This will include retiring the NVELO website, software downloads, product key validation, and email support. We know how much our users love the performance that Dataplex gives them, so we are releasing one final version of the Dataplex software, which will allow it to work without a product key.

We strongly recommend that all Dataplex users upgrade to Dataplex version 1.3.0.1 as soon as possible, while the software download is still available.

Should you continue using an older version of Dataplex and your product key needs to re-validate for any reason, the validation will fail, preventing you from reactivating the Dataplex software until you upgrade to Dataplex version 1.3.0.1.

Dataplex version 1.3.0.1 is identical to version 1.3.0.0, except that it no longer requires a product key to activate. You will still need one of the six Dataplex-supported SSD products in order to use Dataplex and you will continue to get the same great system performance you're used to.

It has been our pleasure helping you get as much performance out of your system as possible. We look forward to providing even more performance optimization in the future, as part of Samsung’s newest storage solutions.

Thank you,

The NVELO Team

If I continue use an older version beyond retired support, will I be able to uninstall if need to do in the future. I presume uninstalling doesn't need to validate? Technically it's like an offline uninstall I am asking. I will download and safe store the new version in case I ever need it but I want to run the older version as it all runs great and I am a 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it guy'

Thanks

I don't think you'll have any problems uninstalling it. It's just new installs that required validation that would be a problem if you didn't get this new version.

Does anyone still have a copy of this (1.3.0.1) version laying around for Corsair drives? Unfortunately I just now saw this message, and the download site is no longer available. Without this software, I'm stuck using the accelerator as just a 60GB SSD.

Thanks

Unfortunately, it seems they hard-coded the check for OCZ drives in that version. Too bad they didn't just create a universal installer. :(

I found a workaround, though it's not for the faint of heart.

I used the OCZ installer and used a hex editor to edit the addfilter.exe file. I removed the string "OCZ-CACH" and replaced it with "Corsair ".

That allowed the software to install and function!

Thanks!

Hey, IDK if this thread is dead or not, I pray that it's not because I'm in desperate need of some ones help. I've owned a Corsair Accelerator 60GB Caching drive for sometime now. For some reason my copy of the software disappeared and now I can't use it. If anyone has a Corsair copy of the Dataplex software I would love a copy, also if you could show us how that worked Dream Cypher that would be sweet... Thanks guys.

Thank you Bladejack. That should help a lot of people.

I'm going to mirror them here in case those two links stop working.

Hey!

Does anyone have the latest version of dataplex for catalyst drives?
And does anyone know whether the software is going to work on win10 - maybe by installing in compatibility mode for win?

Thanks in advance!

I'm 99% certain it won't work with Windows 10, even if you run the installer in compatiblity mode.

That's too bad... Thanks for the answer though.
Will any of the files you uploaded work with catalyst drives on win7?

But anyway... Maybe I'll just use some other caching software like primo cache or something to get the drive running on win10.
Can't be forced to stick to win7 forever, when wanting to keep using the ssd... Are there any solutions alike you would recommend?

Just edited the OCZ addfilter.exe file myself to hopefully work with Catalyst drives. Can't test now, but if someone is willing, go ahead. Of course on own responsibility!

I stopped using caching software a long time ago. SSDs are so cheap now that caching really isn't worth it unless you really need a lot of capacity.

Of course you're right, but isn't this thread all about still(!) trying to solve problems related to Mushkin Caching SSDs?
I mean - I would buy my friend a nice new SSD drive, if that wasn't a money concern, and I wouldn't have a rather new catalyst drive that somewhat is forced to being glued to win7, as there are policy things going on with Samsung and Mushkin...
