Ritek 100GB BD-RE XL Rewritable Media

Postby Ian on Mon Sep 28, 2020 7:10 pm

Ritek recently sent me a couple pieces of their 100GB BD-RE XL media. I've been looking for BDXL media for a long time so I was excited to give these a try.

The packaging isn't very exciting. It shows that the media is rated at 2x, is inkjet printable and, interestingly enough, made in Japan (more on this later).

Here is the disc info. Take note of that Sony MID! This explains the "Made in Japan" label on the packaging.

I'm having a heck of a time running tests with this media. Not the disc or the drive.. the software chokes on it.

Well I have the LG that can handle those so will be interesting to see how they do. I don't hardly burn any disks anymore as most everything is stored on big drives but I do still like making disks in HD and 4k that will actually play. Plus making things the non techy family can play.

I got frustrated with the software and then got sidetracked with some other projects. I'm hoping to give them another go this week.
