Overclocking AMD Athlon

Postby Turkeyscore.com on Thu Feb 27, 2003 11:05 pm

I have a 1 GHZ AMD Athlon. (Not XP) My motherboard supports up to a 1.2 GHZ. I already have a 2 case fans, and a Volcano Cpu cooler. The Motherboard is a VIA KT133A. Any more precautions I should take, what is a safe operating temperature for the cpu? System temp?

well i have a 1ghz atlhon that's been running at 1.2ghz for over a year now. try searching the net for the pencil trick to unlock your cpu. it works easily takes about 2 mins with a #2 pencil. my system is always around the low 100F and cpu never goes over 120F, anything in that range is ok. cep i've seen some cpu go up to 150F but i wouldn't advise that.
