Hitachi gdr 8160b firware update, but don't have aspi layer!!

Postby NoSmartz on Tue Dec 16, 2003 2:23 pm

I have a dvd-rom that I believe is a Hitachi/LG model ldg 8160b.I want to update the firmware and it states that it needs an adaptec ASPI layer for proper installation.I ran INFOTOOL and it says I don't have it.All I have is the Nero ASPI.It says the firware upgrade is not compatible with Nero's ASPI.Can I safely install Adaptec's ASPI layer even though Nero's is already installed? :o

Yes. Go out and get ForceASPI 1.7 for the safest way to install (and later uninstall, if you wish) ASPI.
