It should work, it was designed to work with any true Liteon built drive, even OEM's usually work. BUT that is also why it wont work with the 400 dvd drive, the one LiteOn OEM'd from Sony. I converted my 500 to a 400 just to see if it was better and KProbe still refused to work with it.
My Sony didn't work better and is now a happy Sony again.

I noticed that works but i read that it is not "approved"
only lite-on dvd writers should be taken into consideration

I was momentarily confused whether DVD Recordable forum had been integrated with DVD-ROM drive forum.
