Older versions of Nero will have trouble with XP's SP2. One component that would have trouble is our Nero Cover Designer.

However, if you upgrade to our latest Nero 6, the issues are resolved.

Hi Pranav81,

I have not tested Nero 5.5 yet with SP2. I would suspect it would, but there are dramatic differences in the Code from Nero 5.5 to Nero 6, so it's possible that Nero 5.5 may not have the same symptoms as Nero 6.

Personally, I hope it does not as we are not making any further changes to our Nero 5.5 software, and I would hate for SP2 to force those who wish to remain with Nero 5.5 to upgrade.

I'll try and test this issue ASAP, but at the time being, it looks like I'll be tied up for the next couple of weeks. :(

Regards,

Craig

I've tried Nero 5.5.10.42 (I believe) with XP Pro & SP2.

Works fine.

I also play Need 4 Speed 2: Hot Pursuit without troubles on XP Home SP2.

I'll have to install Unreal Tournament to see if its working or not.

I'll have to FTP shortly with a website update. I'll know by next weekend for sure if that's working.

Nero 6 has issues with SP2 at least on my computer (latest update on the website from August 13th). This is the problem I had... it only occurs with Nero Express, not regular Nero.

Start up nero express. Create a new data DVD. Drag a few files over. Then drag some more (number doesn't matter)... program instantly crashes. I was able to reproduce the same thing 10 times, no matter how many files I dragged over in Nero Express. regular nero had no problems.

I had other issues with SP2, so I decided to go back to SP1. The nero problem (as well as all the other issues) went away.

Get SP2 on CD here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/down ... fault.mspx

They say it will take about 4-6 weeks for delivery.

Microsoft even pays for the shipping costs, so this offer is absolutely FREE.

Has anyone else run into this issue reported by Steveger?

I am not able to duplicate on my systems.

Craig

is there a way to get SP2 as a downloadable executable file (like SP1 xpsp1_en_x86.exe)?
looking at MS site, it sends to windowsupdate and that's usually an 'interactive' download+update, not what i want.

the file for notwork update is huge and i don't think that's what i need. or is it? i want to update just 1 computer, but want the file handy in case i need to update a computer without broadband access.

dodecahedron,

The IT version is huge, 266 megs. But, only those items your specific PC needs will be installed. I downloaded it and slipstreamed it to my original XP files as a bootable CD, using Nero, in case I ever have to reinstall XP.

You can also just burn the SP-2 files to a CD to use on anyone's PC that has XP installed.
