I installed a Buslink cd-rw in my old computer. It came with Nero 5.5. Now I got a new computer and am clueless about using the Nero I already have. Should it work, or does it only work with the old Buslink it came with? Is there something I have to do to make it work with the new one (which came built-in to the computer, and is NEC brand)? Thanks.

There is a good chance it won't work. It depends what brand of CD-RW NEC installed in the computer, and whether it is the same brand that Buslink rebaged and sold to you as your old drive (recent Buslink drives are made by LiteOn). But, give it a try. It won't hurt to install it, and you will find out for sure whether or not it will work. If it does work, upgrade for free to the latest version 5.5.9.17 from www.nero.com . If it doesn't work, uninstall it and install the trial version of 5.5.9.17 from www.nero.com . If that works and you are happy with it, you can upgrade your original OEM version to the full retail package (which will support the new drive) for $19 at https://secure.nero.com/en/Wizard.asp?Item=230 .

You could also try whatever CD burning software came bundled with the new NEC computer. Maybe you will like it.
