That sounds like an issue with your WinDVD installation, not with your drive. I would suggest contacting InterVideo:

First, make sure you've set the region for your drive. If you've set it as region free, you have to run RegionKiller or DVD Genie application to simulate the region.

Then try the latest WinDVD or WinDVD Platinum (4.5.11.26).

You might also want to try different video card settings and update your video card drivers.

Is there anything special you have to do to get this unit to work with DXC?

Just installed one yesterday and it doesn't seem to want to backup DVDs. Do I need a special firmware for the region or something?

Help!

My DVD drive is working fine a few weeks ago but now it is unable o read DVDs. I'm not sure if the drive itself is busted but it can still read CDs.

I did not make any major changes on my PC. I can't figure out what went wrong. When a DVD is inserted into the drive, windows explorer displays undefined on the drive letter. I even upgraded it to firmware DS0F but that did not fix the problem instead it only restored the regional protection code.
