BDV 316C:

http://www.btc.com.tw/btc2002_e/product_home.html

pros: upgradable / flashable to all region codes

Cyber Drive DM168D

http://www.cyberdrive.de/en/article.php?sid=64

ftp://209.133.97.230/cyberdrive/201-P01-0-DM168D.PDF

Pros: seems to read fast, many DVD formats
con: unable to locate tested firmware to remove region code.

Irregardless of price considerations, which one would you choose?

There is already a lot of topics about the BTC , use the search function . Also there is a test ( www.cdrinfo.com ) .
I assume the Cyberdrive has much better CD-ROM access times . I would try the Cyberdrive . Only if it's cheap , else i don't know well this brand and i would recommend you another brands .

BTC should stand for Bogus Tech Computer. Don't get a BTC drive.
