I have Nero 5.5 but can't find this much-bantered "InfoTool" anywhere. Where can I get it? I want to find out some things about my DVD-ROM drive...

In Programs go to Nero then Nero Toolkit then Nero InfoTool. If you don't see it there, download and install CD Speed from http://www.cdspeed2000.com . After you install, you will see the InfoTool under Toolkit.

Are you using OEM version of nero?

Dear Asrale,
hi.Are you using the OEM version of Nero,i.e., the one that came with your burner? If that is the case then you do not get Nero Infotool.I had OEM version of Nero that came with my Teac and when I upgraded it to latest 5.5.X.X I did not get Nero Toolkit.
It is only avaiable in the retail version of Nero(it seems that way to me!).

See ya later,

The Nero Info Tool is not included with CD Speed, but is a separate download.

You can download it at Nero Info Tool.

Has anyone's Nero InfoTool caused their PC to crash? Mine blue-screens every time I run it.

Nibbler,

If you would like some serious troubleshooting help and suggestions, you will have to provide your system & hardware configuration and installed burning software.

Just as a shot in the dark, however, if you have Alcohol 120% or CloneCD with the "hide media" enabled, it's possible that this could be interfering with the Info Tool. If you have either of these programs, first try disabling the ATIP disabler ("hide media"), and uninstall the programs if that doesn't work. If it works with the programs uninstalled, then you have identified the conflict and the programs are easily reinstalled.

Thanks Inertia. I didn't include my specs because I was just fishing for a quick possibilty in what could be causing this and if it was common. I think you answered my question because I do have CCD installed with that option. Thx again.
