AGH, Liteon DVD and win 98 ????//???

how do i install my liteon drive on windows 98, i used to have xp and it was installed automatically, but xp is cr@p and i dont know how to get a dvd rom installed in 98se. please help.

When it asks you to install drivers, point it to the %system% folder on your local drive and see if it finds anything. It shouldn't even ask though.

You shouldn't need drivers,your BIOS should auto.detect the drive.
When you boot hit "Delete" or F12 to enter CMOS and make sure all UDMA drives are set to "Auto",also make sure that the IDE ribbon is properly connected to the drive and motherboard.

Whenever I install drives in my Win98 system, Windows just installs them automatically. If it isn't doing so, you should also make sure that you have the drives jumpered correctly. If this suggestion and the suggestions above don't help, try another IDE cable. I have had IDE cables go bad on me before. :(

no, it recognizes my dvd rom drive, but only as a cdrom drive, how do i make it say dvd rom drive?

Windows won't say it is a DVD-ROM drive. That is normal. But it still is a DVD-ROM drive and can read DVD discs.
