Have a question. Can I flash a DVD-ROM that is installed in an external USB 2.0 IDE enclosure or do I have to have it internally installed on an IDE channel, flash it and then put it back in the enclosure? Reason I asked is that I Have my LTD-163 in one of those enclosures but think it's time to retire it with full pension for its yeoman service and buy a 166s to replace it. For the record that drive has performed without a stutter and that is after ripping over 1600 GB of files in its lifetime and that is a very conservative estimate.

It should be possible to flash the drive externally with either the Windows Flasher from jlms.com.tw or with LtnFlash and a binary.
