About a year ago I purchased a black Lite-on LTR-165H OEM DVD-ROM from newegg.com. The drive reports itself as a LITEON DVD-ROM LTD-165H with CUH1 firmware. This firmware doesn't seem to fit the firmware naming scheme for the 165H drives. Any attempts to flash the drive with new LTR-165H firmware from Liteons site result in an error saying the flash program can only be run on an LTR-165H.

Doing a search on the internet doesnt come up with anything. Anyone have any ideas or come across this drive with the CUH1 firmware??

This is from Nero Infotool:

As you said, your drive is an OEM version. That firmware is for bulk drives sent to companies like Dell or HP or whoever puts them in desktops and sells them.

If you don't mind, please make a backup of this firmware using LtnFW and send it to me. My email address is in my signature.

If you want to put the latest JLMS XJ-HD165H firmware on it, then you can patch the updater with FlashFix or you can download a binary version of the firmware from Digi's site and use that LtnFW program again to upgrade the firmware.

Thanks so much! The update worked perfectly after using FlashFix. I also went ahead and backed up the OEM firmware on the drive and emailed it to ya.

Thanks again!
