Interesting news.. Makes you wonder what the future will be for Plextor.

Toshiba, the second-largest player in the global NAND flash market, is planning to take over the storage business unit of Taiwanese Lite-On Technology ahead of its listing scheduled for next year.

Lite-On Technology is the owner of SSD brand Plextor, which is well-known for its inexpensive yet high-performance products. The predecessor of the storage business unit of the Taiwanese company is Plextor, a Japanese company. In short, Lite-On Technology is about to be owned by a Japanese company in nine years.

Yeah. Let's hope its not a repeat of OCZ where they keep the brand running for a year or two and then kill it off.

Well, I have some Plextor-SSDs and a Liteon-branded one.

All works OK, but almsot all have an problem with the POH-count, especially the Liteon M6S: It takes 23 hours and 50 Mins to increase the POH-value for 1h

I was also disappointed if I try a secure erase with Plextools, everytime Plextools show a message I should powercycle the SSD, but it never worked.

Hope Toshiba make it better, my only one original Toshiba don´t have such problems

Boah, hard to get what Toshiba do.

Toshiba bought OCZ and rename to Toshiba-OCZ

I remember Toshiba want to sell the flash memory division to Sandisk/WD, I think they do it

Toshiba rename Toshiba to Kioxia, still don´t know why because Toshiba have a good reputation in flash memory (I guess).

Toshiba rename the Notebook division to Dynabook.

Or is it the bad reputation of the name "Toshiba" in general? They manipulated the shares and many ppl know now Toshiba also build nuclear power plants
