too bad the average person will burn at whatever speed the drive is capable of though...

New package of Verbatim DL media, totally different result:

No ugly spike of 600 anymore, but the 2nd layer isn't exactly perfectly written....

hopefully a firmware upgrade will improve the 2nd layer burn quality.

The more interesting question is:

Both discs were taken from 5packs of Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL, Juwel Case, Made in Singapor. So wtf are the results that different? I mean, if even Verbatim media changes that fast, any kind of media recommendation for DVD writers is crap

your scanning program does work with 716a fw 1.03 but seems to have much higher errors if scan anything but 2x, with 2x it matchs the plextools, high acc.

here is scan I did of E01 media burned on my 4163.

PS
just a thought it might be nice for your save file to have the scan speed in it so the display program could have a scan speed field.

Yeah, the only media I have found where 8x scan speed still matches the 2x speed result is Taiyo Yuden +R :) It's pretty normal that higher read speeds result in more errors. That is, in the end, the reason why drives are slower when reading low quality discs in Nero DVD Speed :D

I could include the scan speed indeed... on the other hand, pretty much all scans are done at 2x anyway. And older versions of PxView will delete that information when pressing the save button :p
