What was that?

Absobloodylutely Amazing

Postby seaegg on Fri Jul 29, 2005 2:36 am

I have a Canon Canoscan 3200F and needed a Windows XP x64 driver for it. I emailed Canon asking how soon they would have a driver for that OS for download. Imagine my shock when replied and said they will only be developing a 64 bit driver for their high end scanner the 9950F. Well I'm sorry I've used Canon products for years but I'll never buy another Canon product again. Epson has already released 64 bit drivers for the R200 but I guess Canon only caters to the wealthy customers who buy their high end products. To say I'm extremely disappointed is an understatement especially since many of my friends bought Canon products because of my reccommendation. Here endeth my rant.

Windows XP64 is NOT a consumer OS. It is still in experimental stages (which is why it doesn't get a retail release). Why do you guys expect every hardware maker to drop what they're doing to satisfy the 0.001% of the market playing with XP64?

XP64 reminds me a lot of NT when it first came out. Very limited hardware support.

I never said MS isn't going to profit off XP64. But at this point, its nothing but a stopgap from XP to Visa made to satisfy a handful of users with 64-bit hardware.
