AGP 8x Video Card

Postby seaegg on Tue Sep 16, 2003 11:24 am

Quick question. Is it ok to install a 8x AGP Video Card in a mobo that only supports 4x AGP? I was hoping they're backwards compatible because almost all the cards available seem to be 8x and i need to upgrade my video card.

Yes it will be forced to run at 4X which is still fine for todays games.

There's virtually no performance increase with AGP8X anyways. But part of the AGP standard is backwards compatibility.
