Did you happen to be one of the users on dial-up? If so, you should have spoekn up sooner and sorry for the inconvience in the past.

don't worry about it.
anyway i miss the big pictures, too!
but the page loads up much slower.

anyway, like i said in that other post, i will rely on your good judgement when to put up small pics, and when a large one is justified (contains some detailed info maybe?...)

I agree. I think for the drive boxes that we're not sure who makes them, I'll probably post a bigger pic so we can see the details. But like the Memorex drive where there's only one maker, the smaller pic will do fine.

How come this 50 pack CD-R's is hot:

Memorex 700MB 40x/48x CD-R Disc Spindle 50-pack
$22.99 - $4 Instant Rebate - $10 Mail-In Rebate - $4 Mail-In Rebate = $4.99 HOT!

while the Sony 50 pack from last week for $2.99 after MIR is not hot?:

http://www.cdrlabs.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=8870

Sony 700MB CD-R Disc Spindle 50-pack
$22.99 - $9 Instant Rebate - $11 Mail-In Rebate = $2.99

Are the Sony CD-R's not as good quality as the Memorex CD-R's?

Oh give poor BuddhaTB a break! Every week he expends a lot of time and effort to assemble hot deals in an easy-to-read format for us, and here you are complaining about his editorializing! :o

I would probably rank the quality as follows (best to worst):
Memorex/TY
Sony
Memorex/CMC

Thanks for all of your efforts BuddhaTB. It is very much appreciated! This is the first place I look Sunday morning. Even before reading my newspaper.

Yeah, I appreciate BuddhaTB's efforts as well.

What do you say, BuddhaTB? Apparently you've got a lot of fans who depend on you for their Sunday reading. Feeling any pressure? :D

Because if the Memorex's are TY, then its a Really Hot Deal. 50-Pack of TY disc for $4.99 is a very good price. You just have to be lucky enough to find some TY disc. The Sony wasn't too hot of a deal in my opinion. TY's are far superior to CD's made by Sony. So basically its based on my judgement whether or not something warrants the hot label or not. It also helps those people who don't know what a hot deal is, so I help them out.

You guys are all welcome! :D

It does take a lot of time and effort on Saturday night and Sunday morning to type up the phpBB code for my weekly hot deal threads. I'll continue to post up the hot deals on a weekly/daily basis, unless someone beats me to it on a particular deal or people start to unappreciate the hot deal threads. Thank You guys for all your support. :D The only pressure I'm feeling is to have the hot deals up early enough before the retail stores open up on Sunday on the east coast.

I do feel sorry for dodecahedron though. He gets to see all the hot deals we have on a weekly basis, but can't take advantage of them since he's from Israel.

BuddhaTB knows all when it comes to Hot Deals. Your efforts are much appreciated by me.

I checked out two stores, and all the Memorex discs I saw were not TY.

I went to BB and pick up a pack of Memorex - they were made in Taiwan, so most likely CMC?

I'm also seriously considering the 60 GB HD for $60 after MIR by Western Digital.

I know that isn't the hottest deal ever (I saw the ad for the sold out 60 GB WD HD for $30 after MIR a couple of weeks ago), but is it a decent deal if you need a 60 GB HD? Or would it be better to wait a month or two?

Thanks!!

The Memorex CD's you have are made by CMC.

As for the hard drive, I would get it now if you need storage. It's a pretty good price and if you keep waiting a month or two, there might not be anymore more stock of the 60GB retail versions. However, if you don't need the retail kit, I would just get an OEM bare drive for much cheaper a few months down the line. Another thing to consider is, the regular WD hard drives have 1 year warranties, while the Special Edition Caviar models with the 8MB buffers have a 3 year warranty. I would really consider getting a SE model over the standard one, as they are faster and have a longer warranty.

:D  THANKS to whomever gets these deals posted!!! It's a GREAT help to us who don't buy the paper!! And the editorial comments for us new folks makes it MUCH more valuable! Wish I would have seen this site sooner...

Would it make any sense to have a section on board that has the diff models/items avail as sticky posts with the comments? Then you could link to these instead of recomposing all the pix/data each week...just a thought...not sure how workable it might be...

It would then make it easier to see info on models/items on ongoing basis...
Quite new to this CD-RW stuff!
